"Butterfly Swirl" This Queen sized quilt is a "must-have" for all lovers of butterflies. The bold swirl of brightly coloured butterflies is set off centre, and the butterfly theme is echoed in the seven large pale beige butterflies that run up the side and across the top of this quilt. The inspiration for this spectacular quilt came from our Cross Stitch design of the same name and we are delighted to be able to offer you this Cross Stitch Pattern as a Free Bonus for you to stitch as a Companion piece. The background is very simply pieced so as not to detract from the detail of each butterfly. These butterflies are based on real ones found around the world, and are machine appliquéd on, although you could use needleturn applique if you'd prefer. The veranda tiles inspired this quilt, and the grand front entry and stunning oleander flowers feature strongly. The oleanders are as much a symbol of Galveston as is this historic home. This quilt incorporates piecing, foundation piecing and applique.
